






The trains run every day from 4.30 a.m. until midnight.
In the nights before saturdays or sundays is continuous traffic.
Usually the trains run every 5 minutes, but in some sections in the suburbia the train runs less often. During the rush hour the trains are leaving every 2 or 3 minutes in particular sections.

U2
from March 30 2018, 3:00, until March 02 2019, 1:00, there will be no train service between U Pirnaischer Platz and S+U Mitte. Passengers use trams or U1 + S-Bahn. Please note travel time extensions.
U3
from August 20 2018, 3:00, until September 30 2018, 1:00, there will be no train service between U Technische Universität and U Wölfnitz. Passengers use replacement busses. Please note travel time extensions. Trains between U Wölfnitz and U Gorbitz only running every 5 minutes.
U1
from October 01, 1:00, onwards there will be no train service between U Liststraße and U Pirnaischer Platz. Passengers use S-Bahn between S+U Trachau and S+U Hauptbahnhof or replacement busses. Please note travel time extensions.
U1
from October 01, 1:00, onwards there will be no train service between U Technische Universität and U Südhöhe. Passengers use replacement busses.
U1/U2
from October 01, 1:00, onwards trains of U2 continue from U Pirnaischer Platz to U Technische Universität in cause of U1-replacement
U2
from October 01, 1:00, until December 09, 1:00, trains of U2 in direction U Prohlis do not stop in U Straßburger Platz in cause of installation of a lift. Passengers continue to U Fetscherplatz and take the train in the opposite direction.
There are 61 stations in Dresden and the surrounding cities which have a more functional design of which 53 are located in the tunnel
The trains got a rough maximum capacity of 300 persons. There are signs which inform about the time, next stops and train connections.
The metro system of Dresden is over 80 years old; opened back in 1926. The oldest stations have a unique design from long past times.

In March 2019 the new station "Friedrichstraße" opens. Once the extension is opend the trains of the U2 run from the former terminus S+U Mitte to new station Friedrichstraße. This extension actually was planned and partially built in the 1930s but never finished until now. During a one-year-closure of the U2 between U Pirnaischer Platz and U Mitte since March 2018 new tracks will be laid and the stations upgraded barrier-free.
opening date: March 02 2019

The city council decided to extend the U2 to Dresden-Plauen in the cause of traffic jam in the southern areas of Dresden. The works will start in 2019 after the opening of the Friedrichstraße-Extension. The opening of this new branch is scheduled for 2025. Because of the branching a new line U4 is introduced to operate between U Postplatz and U Friedrichstraße.
The stations are: Postplatz (junction) -- Freiberger Straße (S)-- Schweizer Straße -- Chemnitzer Straße (U3) -- Würzburger Straße -- Altplauen (S)
