opening date: March 02 2019

new branch for U2 decided

The city council decided to extend the U2 to Dresden-Plauen in the cause of traffic jam in the southern areas of Dresden. The works will start in 2019 after the opening of the Friedrichstraße-Extension. The opening of this new branch is scheduled for 2025. Because of the branching a new line U4 is introduced to operate between U Postplatz and U Friedrichstraße.

The stations are: Postplatz (junction) -- Freiberger Straße (S)-- Schweizer Straße -- Chemnitzer Straße (U3) -- Würzburger Straße -- Altplauen (S)
